South Africa have a strong road system which links the main cities
of Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.
Generally the N1 and N2 are the main highways (between 2 and 4
lane traffic). Speed limits are 120 km per hour
outside the cities. Inside the cities 60 km.
Unfortunately the speed is controlled by a parasitic system in
South Africa, traffic officers hide away (near speed limit changes)
with lazer beams in order to fine when speed has been exceeded.
Never try bribe a traffic officer and they should never receive
cash.
The
new Garmin maps in South Africa provide warning before approaching
trap or parasitic lazer beams.
